Lifestyle Photography with Sui Searle for Wood & Meadow
Commissioned by Wood & Meadow, I photographed Sui Searle—horticulturalist, printmaker, and the voice behind The Temperate Gardener and Decolonise the Garden—to accompany an in-depth interview exploring her journey into gardening and her advocacy for inclusivity in horticulture.
Leaving behind a corporate career, Sui found meaning in working with plants, a connection first nurtured in childhood by her green-thumbed grandfather and rural upbringing. Now, she spends her days immersed in nature, tending to gardens and encouraging conversations around accessibility, representation, and the barriers to land stewardship. With a deep respect for the living world, she recognises the privilege of access to green spaces and works to challenge the lack of inclusivity in gardening and horticulture.
This shoot captured Sui in her element—working with plants, engaging with nature, and reflecting on the role of gardening beyond aesthetics, as both a personal practice and a wider cultural conversation.
If you’re looking for photography that tells meaningful stories within gardening, sustainability, or lifestyle spaces, I’d love to work with you!
